FOR SALE - 1972 SERIES III LWB HARD TOP DIESEL
One heap of a Land Rover with 10 months MoT, 10 months 'tax' and Historic Vehicle "rent free" registration.

This 1972 109" Series III diesel hard top was in daily use Christmas. It is now surplus to requirements and has to go to.

It is in need of a considerable amount of TLC. It is on Avon Rangemaster 7.50x16 tyres, which are about half worn. The bulkhead is suffering, there is slack in the transmission, the back axle growls a bit and the body has numerous battle scars. The steering has gone a bit stiff causing a bit of bump steer and the electrics are not of the best. The engine smokes heavily on start up but clears once on the road and there is a spare CAV distributor pump. And the rear crankshaft main is a bit incontinent.

Oh, and the mileometer packed up years ago, hence the mileage is unknown.

The roof rack shown in the pictures is not part of the deal unless I receive a very realistic bid for it.

But Lester (so named because its red & white and as different from my other Landys as chalk from cheese!) has been totally reliable over the 4 years that I have owned it and not let me down once.

It should be good for a few years yet with some TLC.

Day 66 - Bar bag

Day 66 - Bar bag

David Jarrom, a cycling buddy from uni happened to comment on the "Shadows and Sprouts" picture and poke fun at my bar bag. Now it's not my weapon of choice for luggin' things to work and back but I've got to use it since my rack is broke. Which btw the dumbasses at Evans (Sorry Rog) messed up sorting out yet again. How come if you send something back for warranty return they think it's OK to give you a lesser spec model just because it's what they've got in stock. Just send the damn thing back and the distributor will give you a new one. It's not difficult, even I know the score and I don't even work in the bloomin shop. Oh and then when the thing comes in it might be a good idea to get in touch with the customer through anyone of the 3 methods of contact they left you with. Bloomin 'eck. Sorry, I was going to say look at all this stuff I can get in my bar bag. Managed to squeeze some sandwiches in there too. OK I cheated and strapped the wooly jumper to a bag on the outside, but still not bad going...

Phil.
